Description
Material relating to the commission of a War Memorial at Ludworth and the provision of four years of secondary education at New Mills County School for children of the fallen. This contains :
(a) handwritten original minutes of Ludworth War Memorial Committee from March 1921 to March 1923 when plans for the war memorial were abandoned due to lack of funds but the educational plans were continued.
(b) correspondence with the Ministry of Pensions re educational grants for children of deceased soldiers and proposal for the erection of a Ludworth World War 1 memorial.
(c) Original newspaper cutting re war memorial scheme
(d) Original leaflet with details of the scheme and subscription form
(e) Original letter from the sculptor Sep 1922 to the architect outlining proposed erection costs of £157 for Ludworth War Memorial.
