Photocopies of miscellaneous newspaper articles relating to Marple and Mellor from Manchester Mercury :
1. 1808 : Samuel Oldknow's bay horse has strayed.
'Whoever has taken him up and will bring him or give information shall be handsomely rewarded.’
2. 1810 : Sale by Auction : Merino Sheep in the grounds of Samuel Oldknow, seventy rams and ten ewes also sixty ewes of the breeds Merino, Ryeland, South down.
3. 1811 : Meeting at Bridgewater Arms to consider the propriety of making a Canal from Peak Forest Canal to Staffordshire Canal. It was resolved that a canal communication through or near Macclesfield to the Caldon branch of the Trent & Mersey would be of great public utility.
