Original newspaper cuttings from The Reporter 1935 "Echoes from the Peak" giving information on the news that Mellor is to have street lighting after forty years of controversy.
This was decided at a well-attended meeting of local government electors at Mellor Drill Hall with an almost unanimous vote in favour of the adoption of the Lighting and Watching Act, 1833 which would result in the village being provided with a lighting system.
