Newspaper reports on wells / culverts found around the Marple Area:
a. Two articles from Stockport Messenger and High Peak Echo dated 1992 : Well found in garden in Marple, reporting on a 26 foot well in working order discovered in the garden of a house in Waterside, Marple.
b. Date unknown Editors letter re Well Cottage, Church Street, Marple in which it reports that the occupier had found letters which led her to believe that the cottage had been the headmaster’s house for the old Grammar School
c. 1984 : Culvert found by workmen mending Strines Road, Marple. They discovered a beautifully constructed archway and what appeared to be a tunnel leading towards the Roman Lakes.
