Memory Sticks
Lock 7 : Photographs showing the reconstruction in 2016/2017 of failed section of canal wall between locks 6 and 7 of the Peak Forest Canal. Series of 69 photos shows process of canal dredging, erecting metal uprights, affixing reinforced concrete and rebuiliding masonry wall using reclaimed stone where possible. Taken by Fred Thistleton of Aqueduct House.
19th Century Ludworth
Power Point presentation and research material for talk, entitled "Who's been living in my house - History of 19th century Ludworth", given to MLHS in 2008 by Society member Ruth Hargreaves.
Material includes maps, photographs of local people and places, census returns, business directory information etc, from which occupancy of 75 Compstall Road since 1841 has been traced. Stories of some individual residents also revealed.
Memories of Marple and Mellor
Cassette recordings and transcripts of interviews from 1961 onwards with local people recalling memories of their lives in late 19th century (see MMR/03/01).
