Miscellaneous newspaper and magazine cuttings relating to Goyt Mill, from 1959 - 2015:
a. History and closure of Goyt Mill in 1959 with loss of 300 jobs.
b. Subsequent use of Mill by Kay Brothers, manufacturers to the motor industry of Foamoprene.
c. Later reopening (1983 onwards) of Mill as premises for local firms, eg Goyt Timber, Goyt Glass, Marple Golf Supplies, UK Petcare and Aquacare, The Millpool. Later joined by Uniquely Chic Furniture, Art Shop and others.
d. Establishment in 1993 of Rope Race, housing climbing walls open to the public.
e. Proposals for development of Mill site for housing and leisure (1983 & 2013)
f. Firms occupying commercial units in Shepley Lane area, eg Wright hire, Plumbing Direct 2, Arden Group.
g. Drugs raid (2005) and sudden unexplained closure of Mill Forge unit (1990).
h. Edition of Goyt Mill News, Issue 1, dated 1989 with history of Mill and information on current companies .
