Description

(a) Photocopy of newspaper article from Manchester Guardian 29th July 1912 "Crippled Children : The Marple Country Nursing Home" on the laying of the four foundation stones:-
"Foundation stone laid 27th July 1912 by Mrs I Frankenburg of Salford"
"Foundation stone laid 27th July 1912 by Miss A Hyde of Manchester"
"Foundation stone laid 27th July 1912 by Mrs MacNair of Marple"
"Foundation stone laid 27th July 1912 by Master Thos Lee R Hardy of Knutsford"
(b) Colour photographs on A4 paper of two foundation stones. These photographs were taken in situ before Treetops was demolished in 2004.
"This stone was laid by John Howson Ray MB, ChM, FRCS on the fourth day of October 1930"
and the stone laid on 27th July 1912 by Master Thos Lee R Hardy.
(c) A4 document giving information on a plaque to be erected by the foundation stones on the old site of Treetops formerly Marple Children's Orthopaedic Hospital.
(d) In 2023 four of the five foundation stones listed above were embedded in the turf of the children's play area now known as Treetops Close, Marple. That of Thomas Lee R Hardy was not among them and there was no plaque as mentioned in (c).
