May 1811 : Gregory & Bullivant advertise that they are making lime of a very superior quality at Marple lime works
1823 Marple lime kilns : lime will be sold at these kilns at 13 pence a load (for ready money) and the Land Trade will pass toll free at Dan Bank bar
Feb 1961 Lime Kiln Farm and six acres of land with outline planning permission was sold for £7,500
(a.) May 1964 : Destruction of historic building halted – showing photograph of partial demolition of part of Lime Kiln Farm
Jan 1966 Kiln collapse probe – a department of the Ministry of Works will investigate the collapse
Feb 1966 Cost of repair too high. The lime kilns scheduled two years ago as ancient industrial monuments may be demolished or left to crumble away
1967 £400 anonymous gift aids fight to save the lime kilns. The cheque was later returned as the plan was abandoned
1975 Faced with spending £7,469 to qualify fora government grant of £6,573 for restoration of the lime kilns, it was decided to carry out minor repairs costing £500 and not apply for the grant

2013 At risk: a piece of Marple history – the lime kilns have been added to an annual list of ‘at risk’ buildings
2017 Lime kilns survey finds plenty of bat activity with common and soprano pipistrelles
