Becoming a member of Marple Local History Society

The society's annual membership subscription fee is £15 and the season runs from 1st September to 31 August each year.

Benefits include free entry to 8 speaker meetings (visitors are charged £4 per meeting) and participation in the society's trips.

A regular email newsletter is also available to members who choose to subscribe to receive it.

The application process

The society's preference is for you to pay by annual standing order or BACS transfer.

While payment by cash or cheque is still possible for those not able to do so, it is no longer encouraged.

If you would like to join please complete and submit the application form below. Our Treasurer and Membership Secretary will then contact you with further details of how to complete the enrolment and payment processes.

Gift Aid Declaration

If you are a UK taxpayer, please consider Gift Aiding your membership fee so we can claim back an extra 25% on top of your subscription. If you are agreeable to this please tick the YES box, otherwise tick NO.
I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and / or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.

If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.

We will keep these contact details secure during your period of membership and they will be deleted when you inform us that you are leaving the society. You may request us at any time during your membership to delete this information but we would not then be able to keep you informed. We will not divulge this information to any other person or organisation.
